Beyond the Scale

Understand What’s Changing Inside Your Body

A standard scale shows one number. An InBody scan separates that number into measurements that provide more useful context for your nutrition and wellness goals.

Muscle Mass

View your estimated skeletal muscle mass and monitor changes over time.

Body Fat

Review your estimated body fat mass and body fat percentage.

Body Water

See estimated body water measurements that may affect your overall results.

Progress Over Time

Compare scans completed under similar conditions to identify meaningful trends.

Clear Results

Leave With a Detailed Body Composition Report

Body weight can change because of muscle, body fat, and water. Viewing these components separately gives you and your dietitian more context when discussing nutrition goals and monitoring progress.

  • Identify your starting point with organized body composition measurements.
  • Add context to your nutrition plan beyond total body weight alone.
  • Compare changes over time when repeat scans are completed under similar conditions.

Prepare for Consistent Results

Before Your Scan

Small changes in hydration, meals, and activity can affect body composition measurements. Follow these steps before testing.

Keep your normal fluid intake

Maintain your normal fluid intake the day before and hydrate about one hour before testing.

Wait at least three hours after eating

Avoid completing the test immediately after a meal.

Be fully recovered from exercise

Exercise can influence muscle, fat, and body water measurements.

Use the restroom first

Empty your bladder before your scan for more consistent testing conditions.

Remove socks and heavy accessories

Do not wear socks, pantyhose, watches, or heavy jewelry during testing.

Keep repeat scans consistent

When possible, test at the same time of day and under similar conditions.

Please tell our team before testing if you are pregnant or have an implanted cardiac device. InBody recommends that pregnant individuals not be tested and that anyone with an implanted cardiac device consult their physician before testing.
